DISC & relationships

The Communication Sandbox Workshop / Sandbox Strategy

Practise constructive communication through team activities and guided discussion.

Maxwell DISC

What this programme helps you work on.

Teams can repeatedly misread one another without taking time to examine the conversation itself. The Communication Sandbox uses workshop and Sandbox Strategy materials to explore interaction and practical communication choices. The discussion connects participants’ experiences with agreements they can use in everyday work.

Who it suits

Teams wanting more constructive communication.

The focus

Communication, interaction and facilitated reflection.

Inside the programme

What you’ll explore.

These themes guide the learning. The depth and selection depend on the format and the needs you bring.

Notice the interaction

Describe a conversation that became unclear or unproductive and identify what people said or did.

Compare what people needed

Explore differences in expectations, information and communication preferences before deciding what caused the difficulty.

Practise a clearer exchange

Try an adjusted way to explain the task, ask a question or check what the other person understood.

Create a working agreement

Agree a communication habit the team can apply in a specific recurring situation.

From ideas to action

Put it into practice.

Choose a practical communication agreement for the team.

An example to work through

Bring an example of unclear instructions between colleagues. Practise the exchange again with explicit expectations and a check of understanding, then agree when the team will use that approach.

This is an example of local application. We adapt the discussion to your situation and agreed scope.

Your practical takeaways

What you’ll work towards.

  • A clearer understanding of a recurring communication difficulty.
  • Practice adapting one real exchange.
  • A communication agreement linked to everyday work.

The learning experience

How it works.

Facilitated learning combines explanation, discussion and reflection on participants’ own situations. Where the agreed format allows, you practise an application and decide what to try at work. Scope, duration and any follow-up are agreed around the group’s needs.

DISC describes behavioural preferences and supports discussion. It is not a clinical diagnosis or a complete judgement of ability or suitability for a role. Report inclusion and the debrief format are confirmed for the engagement.
